Counseling

Counselling and Life Direction

While the fear of stigma associated with counselling is not as ubiquitous as previously thought, ‘perceived stigma’ is still one of the most common barriers to seeking counselling. Often thought of, (especially among those who have never ‘needed’ counselling), as a service for the weak or mentally ill, and as a consequence is often shunned by those who could benefit..

Counselling is not about advice giving, but is an interactive, interpersonal relationship that enables the client to explore their own feelings, thoughts and what they can do to change and develop their life. Every human being is a unique individual with their own personal and unique characteristics. Everyone has a different perspective of the world and a myriad of ways of dealing with it.

The service is client led and in this case, person centred. Only you really know what you want from your life. The mission of the counsellor is to empower the client into discovering what negative and counterproductive issues are unbalancing their existence and then encouraging the client to gently apply their own discovered strengths and so determining their own life path.
